Appointment length: 30 minutes

A skincare consultation is a dedicated appointment to assess your skin and build a personalised, realistic plan to improve skin health and appearance over time. It's ideal if you're struggling with concerns such as dryness/dehydration, sensitivity, breakouts, pigmentation, uneven texture, congestion, redness/rosacea-prone skin, or early signs of ageing — or if you simply feel overwhelmed by products and want clear guidance. Appointments typically last 30 minutes. This service is for adults who want a structured routine, product recommendations and professional support. It may not be suitable if you have a rapidly worsening rash, suspected skin infection, severe eczema/psoriasis flare, or a new or changing mole/lesion — these should be assessed by your GP/pharmacist/dermatology first. Skincare advice can also be limited during pregnancy/breastfeeding and when using certain prescription medicines, so we'll tailor recommendations accordingly.

What Happens During Treatment

We start with a consultation covering your main concerns, goals, lifestyle, budget, and what you're currently using (including any prescription or active products). We'll review relevant medical history, allergies and sensitivities. Your skin is assessed in good lighting and, where helpful, with magnification and photos for progress tracking. We'll explain what may be contributing to your concerns and outline a step-by-step routine (AM/PM), including which actives to introduce, when to use them, and how to reduce irritation risk. If in-clinic treatments could help (e.g. peels, microneedling), we'll discuss options and timelines. You'll leave with a recommended regime and product recommendations.

Expected Results

You can expect improved clarity and confidence in your routine straight away. Visible skin changes are typically gradual: some people notice improvements in 2–4 weeks, with more meaningful changes often taking 6–12 weeks, depending on the concern and consistency.

How long results may last: Results are maintained with ongoing use and may need reviews as your skin, seasons, or goals change.

Downtime & Recovery

There's no downtime. Occasionally, if you start new active ingredients, you may experience mild dryness, tightness, tingling, redness, or a short "purge" of spots as your skin adjusts. These effects are usually temporary and can often be reduced by pacing introductions and adjusting product frequency.

Side Effects, Risks & Contraindications

Possible side effects

  • Mild dryness, tightness or tingling when starting new active ingredients
  • Temporary redness
  • A short "purge" of spots as your skin adjusts

Risks

  • Irritant or allergic contact dermatitis, stinging, or excessive dryness if products are used incorrectly or too frequently
  • Barrier disruption, or a flare of acne or rosacea
  • Pigment irritation, particularly with retinoids, acids and brightening agents used without adequate sun protection

Contraindications

  • We do not provide medical diagnosis — any severe, spreading, blistering, infected, or rapidly worsening skin problem needs medical assessment first
  • Some products are unsuitable in pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Advice may be limited if you are under dermatology care, using prescription treatments (e.g. isotretinoin), or have a history of significant allergies — appropriate referral will be advised where needed

Aftercare

Follow the routine exactly as advised, introducing new actives slowly (e.g. every other night at first) and stopping if you develop significant irritation. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser to support your skin barrier. Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 daily, and avoid sunbeds. Don't add extra new products for at least 2–4 weeks unless discussed, as this makes it harder to identify triggers. Avoid over-exfoliating, harsh scrubs, or mixing multiple strong actives together unless specifically advised. If you have persistent burning, swelling, hives, blistering, or signs of infection, stop the product and arrange a review.
