At our clinic, anti-wrinkle injections (botulinum toxin treatment) are used to relax specific facial muscles that create expression lines. This helps to soften the appearance of lines such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, while keeping results natural-looking and tailored to your facial movement. It's generally suited to adults who want a subtle, refreshed appearance and smoother-looking skin in targeted areas, without adding volume. In some cases, botulinum toxin can also be used for non-cosmetic concerns, but these require a full assessment and further discussion. The treatment isn't suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to botulinum toxin (or any ingredient), have an infection at the intended injection sites, or have certain neuromuscular conditions (your prescriber will assess this). A typical appointment for botulinum treatment takes around 30 minutes. In the UK, botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine, so a consultation with an appropriate prescriber is required before treatment.
We use MHRA-approved botulinum toxin type A products for anti-wrinkle treatments, including Azzalure (made by Galderma) and Botox (made by Allergan). Which product is used depends on suitability and availability, and will be confirmed with you during your consultation.

What Happens During Treatment
When you arrive, we'll ask you to complete a medical questionnaire and talk through your goals and areas of concern. Your clinician will assess facial movement and symmetry, explain realistic outcomes and risks, and obtain informed consent. With your permission, we will take standardised photographs for your confidential records. The skin is cleansed, and we place small injections into selected muscles using a very fine needle—most clients describe brief pinprick sensations. The appointment is usually quick, and you can return to normal daily activities straight afterwards. We'll also book you in for a review around two to three weeks after your initial treatment to check your result and discuss any refinements, if appropriate.
Expected Results
Results develop gradually—often starting within a few days and continuing to improve over about 2 weeks. Our aim is a natural softening of lines while maintaining expression.
How long results may last: Effects are temporary and commonly last around 3–4 months before gradually wearing off, at which point repeat treatment may be considered.
Downtime & Recovery
Downtime is minimal. You may notice small bumps at injection sites for 10–30 minutes, mild redness, tenderness or light bruising. Some people experience a temporary headache or a tight/heavy feeling in the treated area for a day or two. These effects are usually mild and settle without treatment.

Risks

- Unwanted heaviness, such as a "heavy brow", or a raised eyebrow shape
- Dry or watery eyes
- Rarely, double vision if the product affects nearby muscles
- Bruising and headache
- Very rarely, toxin spread causing more generalised weakness or swallowing/breathing problems — this requires urgent medical attention
Contraindications
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Infection at the injection site
- Known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin
- Certain neuromuscular disorders (e.g. myasthenia gravis, Eaton-Lambert syndrome, motor neurone disease)
Aftercare
For the first 4 hours, stay upright and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas. Avoid facials, heavy exercise, saunas/steam rooms, and alcohol for 24 hours to reduce the risk of bruising and unwanted spread. You can gently cleanse your face and apply make-up later the same day if there's no broken skin. Avoid lying face-down the first night if possible. Results can take up to 2 weeks to fully settle, so try not to judge the outcome too early. Contact us if you develop significant asymmetry, drooping that concerns you, worsening headache, rash, or any other symptoms. Seek urgent medical help immediately if you develop swallowing or breathing problems.
